About EMDR Therapy

Why EMDR?
A short introduction from EMDR International Association
EMDR can be more effective and faster than “talk therapy”
It does not re-traumatize you through the retelling of distressing details
Something as simple as, “My 5th birthday,” or “That thing my mother said” Is all you have to tell me!
I won’t ask you “Tell me how that makes you feel?”
But I will say “Go with that” approximately 10 million times
Traumatic memories can appear less vivid, or faded, or more distant
You will learn to identify with new positive beliefs such as I am good enough, I am safe now, or I am lovable
We get to laugh every time you call it EDMR, ERDM, or even EDM (electronic dance music)
We end every session with grounding techniques to ensure you leave feeling ready to take on the rest of your day

What is EMDR used for?
I use EMDR to address:
Sexual assault
Nightmares
Violence and abuse
“Changing the memories that form the way we see ourselves also changes the way we view others. Therefore, our relationships, job performance, what we are willing to do or are able to resist, all move in a positive direction.”
— Francine Shapiro, creator of EMDR
